What do you guys think about a R/C cars and trucks section? That would be the category, how could it be broken down into groups?

That would be great, since I'm into them. Here's a start on how to break them apart:

Electric
Cars
Buggy's
Monster Trucks

Nitro (gas powered)
Cars
Buggy's
Monster Trucks

If that's too detailed, then an Electric and Nitro sections would suffice.

That would be cool. I've got one but it's just a box full of parts, lol. I guess it would be cool to put it all together and drive it. I could use the advice.

Cool, I'll work on that today when I get home from work.

That's ok Buz, being broken down into parts it's easier to go through it with a fine tooth comb..LOL
I know with mine I have to put locktite on everything.

Yeah, I'm kinda obsessive when it comes to putting things like that back together. Everything has to be perfectly clean. I've been looking forward to it for a while but it's that damn time thing as usual. You know, I'm sure.

I know exactly what you're talking about. I have a roll cage for my TMaxx, and I'm too lazy to get started on figuring out how to mount it, because I basically have to remove the engine, and rear suspension, just to move up the body posts so that I can clip the body back on it...

So, how do I go about determining what I've got here? I know its a gas motor but I'd like to figure out who makes tha car so that I can look into parts and such. More power, lol. I've never had it running and I already want to tune it up.

Yeah, it says traxxas on some of the parts but i was assuming that it was just a brand name for the parts not the whole car. Is that a bad name? I don't know anything about them. I'll post some pics maybe this weekend. It takes forever with this dial up. I'm pretty sure it's complete. I have a whole bunch of spare parts. This guy gave it to me for nothing because his son was costing him money every time he drove it.

Traxxas is cool, I like them. They have been around since 1986 and are in Plano, TX, and they aren't too expensive, however, the only bad thing about them, is the quality of their parts, they tend to break too easy. On my (Traxxas) TMaxx I have put all kinds of upgraded parts onto it. The rule of thumb with Traxxas cars is when something breaks, instead of replacing it, upgrade it...

The other great thing about them, is their customer support, they even have an 800 # that you can call and get help. In the meantime that you are getting those pics up, check out their website, it's very informative, not to mention that they have a forum as well with many people willing to help. http://www.traxxas.com/support/index.htm

They even have downloadable files with the breakdown of their cars and stuff, that would get you started too, on how to put your car back together.

A lot of the spare parts I have are aluminum. I guess the guy I got it from knew better about the upgrading since a lot of the parts on the car are plastic. BTW, I'm thinking it's a truck because it's 4 wheel drive. I don't have the body but that's a minor detail, I hope. Thanks for the link and the help. I'll get some pics up here soon.

Good deal, and since it's Traxxas then it is probably a Tmaxx, or Emaxx. Emaxx being the electric version. Yeah, the body is real minor, you don't even need it, it's really only to make it look pretty, lol.

I read somewhere that they make them with that soft plastic so that they have "Give" to them before they break.
But yeah if it breaks, upgrade..
Is the frame a flat stamped sheet of aluminum with a fork like end with four holes?
Does it have a square hole in the middle of the frame measuring about 3 inches x 2 inches?

Both ends of the frame are actually kinda hard to see because the car is mostly assembled. The frame is a flat piece of aluminum but the hole in it is almost the length of the frame. I'd say (eyeball) 5 inches long, shaped like a field point arrowhead. i guess the transmission sets down in there. there is a driveshaft on both ends

Does it look something like this?

This is the OG TMaxx with the 2.5 engine, I just noticed that they are putting out TMaxx's with a 3.3! man, times have changed.

Not to mention, hey Admin have you ever checked out 'misbehavin's' site? It's really good for all kinds of TMaxx type stuff, not to mention some other stuff that he's moved onto too.

Check it out: http://www.misbehavin-rc.com/

Really detailed, and even has pics of the different things he has done. The one that came in real useful for me was the one on using a receiver pack instead of the 4 AA's. And i also converted mine to a pull start. And of course, got the tips on the RPM stuff from him.

Yeah, I've been wanting to do the same thing but didn't know what to use or how to do it.
I realy need to put a fail safe on it too.

Same here, call me a procrastinator for the fail safe. And there was one time when my truck took off on me, because my batteries were low on my radio, and I got lucky, and only stripped the spur gear.

As far as the receiver pack, if you know how to use a soldering iron then it will be a piece of cake. What I even did as an extra step, is on the cut end of the little box for the 4 AA's, I also put the clip onto it, so that if one day I forget to charge my pack, I can always pop that little unit back in with the 4 batteries.

Damn, you were using your head there..
Yeah I've had a few run aways myself but have gotten real lucky. I ran it underneath the neighbors car and the body just exploded. It ripped the body posts clean off..LOL
